Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic Care - A chiropractor is a doctor that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, especially those related to the spine. The spine is vulnerable to restricted/abnormal joint function in the small joints (facet joints) of the back, which can lead to pain and discomfort in the soft tissue near the affected joint. This can be the result of everyday activities, sports, injuries, or accidents. A chiropractor’s treatment centers around spinal manipulation, or adjustments, to correct the restricted joint function allowing for pain relief and improved flexibility.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling - Trigger point dry needling uses a solid filament needle which is directly inserted through the skin and into the muscle to release the painful trigger point. The insertion of the needle allows us to penetrate the deeper layers of muscle and other soft tissue, which are typically impossible to get to with the use of manual pressure or other forms of surface therapy. With Dry Needling, the needle itself can be utilized as the treatment or, if needed, it may be used in combination with the use of a TENs unit for deeper therapeutic benefit.
Cupping
Cupping - Cupping Therapy is used to improve blood and lymph circulation, decrease pain, reduce tension, and remove toxins. It is performed by placing plastic or silicone cups on the skin, then using a hand held pump to suction out the air, creating a vacuum. During this process the underlying tissue will be partially raised into the cup.
Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique - ART is a soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. These structures are consistently strained due to overuse. ART works by isolating each affected muscle, applying direct pressure and taking it through a specific motion.
This allows the soft tissue to return to its normal resting length and alleviates the associated pain.
Functional Rehabilitation
Functional Rehabilitation - Most injuries or pain involves weakness or damage to the soft tissue which is made up of muscles, tendons, ligaments, or fascia. Due to this, it is necessary to not only treat the pain, but to also address the deficiencies that may have caused the pain in the first place. Our physician’s accomplish this by tailoring a specific home exercise program to meet the needs of the individual and their unique condition. We expect patients to take an active role in their care by participating in this program so that maximum recovery can be achieved while also decreasing the risk of future episodes of pain. Programs are designed for various purposes including strength, flexibility, core stability, range of motion, posture, and more.
Extremity Adjustments
Extremity Adjustments - The objective of extremity adjustments is to restore the normal range of motion to the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees or ankles. In some cases, extremity adjustments are combined with other types of treatment, including cupping, dry needling, active release technique as well as appropriate stretches and exercises for the involved joint. Each joint has specific adjustment techniques based on the muscles and bones in that joint. Common conditions that can benefit from an extremity adjustment include tendinitis, bursitis, TMJ, tennis elbow, arthritis, fallen arches, plantar fasciitis, and carpal tunnel just to name a few. Patients who need extremity adjustments might complain of numbness or weakness in an extremity, stiffness, limited joint range of motion or joints locking up.
Prenatal/Postnatal Chiropractic
Prenatal/Postnatal Chiropractic - The body will go through many changes during pregnancy that can be both painful and physically demanding. These changes can cause a variety of issues such as back pain, pelvic pain, sciatica, round ligament pain, headaches, migraines and more. We use a variety of techniques to help minimize stress on the body by decreasing the pressure on the involved muscles, ligaments and joints. All of this, to physically, make mom more comfortable and at the same time provide optimal space for the baby to grow and get in the proper position for delivery. Chiropractic can also be a valuable tool post partum as well!
